We’re Moving

Casey and I are really excited and terrified and thrilled and nervous to announce our plans to move to ETHIOPIA.  If you know us at all, then this probably isn’t a surprise to you.  God has been leading us down this path for the last several years, and, though there have been many times when He has pulled us kicking and screaming out of our comfort zone, we are trying to be faithful to the things He calls us to.

Discerning God’s will can be so difficult.  In fact, as I look back over our life the last few years, I can clearly see His leading, but with each step and decision we were unsure, nervous, and questioning.  We’ve tried to move slowly and surely, but there comes a point when it’s time to take a leap of faith.  And here we are.

We will be “sent” by a partnership of Lifesong for Orphans and our home church.  Right now our plan is to spend a month in missionary training in July and then move to Addis Ababa next August for language school.  After language school, we hope to move to Ziway and work with Lifesong at the schools in Ziway and Adami Tulu.  We have told Lifesong that we will start with a three year commitment.  After that, we have no idea what will happen.  We don’t know if this is just a side-story in our journey, or if this is our story.

Please pray for us.  There are still many decisions and plans to be made.  We will begin raising our support soon, so we’ll have more to share later.

  3. As you say, God has been providentially leading you down this path for a good while. It is easy to see how God has been working in our lives in hindsight but not so much in the present and the future. That’s why we call it faith!

“To have faith is to be sure of the things we hope for, to be certain of the things we cannot see.” Hebrews 11:1

God will lead you and your faith will sustain you. We are very proud and excited for you.
